Description
Harnett County Arts Council will be hosting an event October 19-20 called Chalk Fest . Chalk Fest will have artists (single or teams of 2-4 people) who will produce their art in a 5ft x 5ft square on the east side of Wilson Avenue in Dunn, NC. Participants will be ages 6-adult and will be grouped in 3 age groups (6-12, 13-17, 18+) . Artists may begin drawing their designs on Friday, Oct 19th from 3pm until 6pm. On Saturday, Oct 20th they can return at 8am to finish working on their designs until 4pm when judges will begin their evaluations of the squares. There will be 3 awards with cash prizes delivered to each age group: Best in Show, Best Design, & Best use of color. In addition, each square will be provided with a can in which the general public can place coins to caste their vote of the best square (these votes will be tallied across all age groups). Whoever has the most coins will be awarded a trophy for The Popularity Vote (this will not have an associated cash prize). We will be advertising to the public to make sure to bring out their coins in order to vote for what they believe is the best square.
