Description
It’s the military families, first responders, healthcare workers, charity organizations, and ministries that prop up our local community. This year, Central Baptist Church is taking the time to honor a few of the “keepers” in our area during the Patriotic Explosion on Sunday, June 26th at 7pm. These community figures often work selflessly behind the scenes, leading through times of crisis, filling stomachs, lifting spirits, and providing for spiritual needs.
Honorees will include former Dunn fire chief and public works director, Joe Campbell; owner of Phillip’s Love Bears, Phil Fusco; ministry leaders, Bishop Reginald Hinton and Pastor Charles Kelley; Dr. Olalekan Folarin, internal medicine specialist at Betsy Johnson Hospital; and the late Freddie and Mary Williford, owners of town staple, Sherry’s Bakery.
This event will begin with a musical voiced by the 100+ voice Central Baptist Church choir, led by Worship Pastor Darren Hughes. As always, the program will be a celebration of our nation's freedom and include a special presentation of our veterans, honoring those who have served in all branches of the military.
Free hotdogs will be served outside after the program. Bring a lawn chair or a blanket to enjoy the fireworks show beginning at dark. The event is free and open to the public. It has become a must-attend each year for many in our local area.
Central Baptist Church is located 4 miles south of Dunn on Highway 421 at 6050 Plain View Highway, (exit 73 off I-95). For more information: 910-892-7914 or cbcdunn.com.
