Central Baptist Church will be lighting up the Sampson County skies for the annual Dunn Patriotic Explosion on Sunday, June 27th at 7:00pm. This event will begin with a musical voiced by the 100+ voice Central Baptist Church choir, led by Worship Pastor Darren Hughes. This year, we are honored to have Dr. Steve Scheibner speaking.
Scheibner was initially scheduled to fly AA flight 11 on September 11, 2001, the first of four planes to be hijacked on that fateful day. Through a divine set of circumstances, Steve was bumped from that flight the night before by a more senior pilot. His YouTube video, “In My Seat” has reached over 2 million views. This viral video recounts the events leading up to Flight 11 and the subsequent death of Tom McGuinness in the seat that should have been filled by Steve Scheibner. You won’t want to miss Steve share the powerful story of God’s provision 20 years ago.
Through free food, a message of hope, and the largest display of fireworks in the Dunn area, Central Baptist desires to show the community the hope and peace that can be found in a relationship with Jesus Christ.
Don’t forget to bring your lawn chair or a blanket to enjoy the fireworks show! The event is free and open to the public. It has become a must-attend each year for many in our local area.
