The Board of Directors of the Dunn Area Tourism Authority and The Averasboro Battlefield Museum Commission would like to invite you to the unveiling of the Underground Barn Quilt Display on June 8th at 10am! This will be the only display of all 18 barn quilts used during the Underground Railroad on the East Coast of the United States. These barn quilts all have particular meanings and codes used by conductors and escaped slaves to help them on their journey to freedom. This is a huge historical addition for our area. Hand painted by local artist these are all one of a kind barn quilts painted particularly for this project. We hope you can come out and enjoy this new revolutionary addition to the museum and learn the history of these beautiful barn quilts.
